Woodpeckers!
Amongst doves and pigeons and other well-known birds, woodpeckers are some of the most recognizable birds out there! After all, they live on every continent except for Australia and Antarctica!
If you’ve ever had a woodpecker live near your house, you know just how noisy they can be! After all, they can peck up to 15 miles per hour!, and that’s bound to make some noise! Because they peck so much, you’d think that they’d probably have pretty damaged brains, wouldn’t you? However, these odd birds have a built-in protection to cushion their brains! Most of us would assume that a woodpecker’s tongue would be long, since it needs to poke it on the little holes it makes to catch bugs, but did you know that their tongues are so long that they go all the way to the back of their brain, effectively cushioning it?
Another remarkable feature of these birds is their sense of hearing! Woodpeckers can hear insects chewing wood inside of a tree trunk, and that helps them know where to drill so that they can find their food easily!
Matthew 10:31 says; Fear ye not, therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows. Isn’t it amazing how God loves us so much, even more than these birds that he put so much love and care into making?
