🍋Not lemonade! Lemon water is freshly squeezed lemon juice in warm water. This combo has a load of benefits that are great for your body in several ways.

Here is a list of a few of the benefits that lemon water has on the body:

Lemon water is a rich source of vitamin C which is important for maintaining good health and is what keeps your immune system up and going! It aids in digestion, as the acidity of the lemon helps stimulate your hydrochloric acid (stomach acid) and will help your body absorb nutrients better. For this reason, it would be best to take at least 1/3 of a cup of warm to hot water with half a lemon squeezed into it, right before each meal. It is also an excellent choice for people trying to lose weight, as it helps to reduce hunger cravings and increases the metabolism.

Lemon water is also full of antioxidants, which are not only great to fight off free-radicals in the body, but also promotes healthier, glowing skin! It can improve your energy and mood, as lemons alone have been found to reduce stress and anxiety, as well as lowers your blood pressure. Even just the smell of lemons can improve your alertness and energy! It should be consumed in moderation as excessive consumption can cause harm to the tooth enamel. Drinking lemon water regularly is a great way to stay hydrated and improve overall health.

Another great drink to try is this lemon-garlic drink, which you can take alongside your food. To make it, take 2 small garlic cloves, 1 tbsp of lemon juice and blend it in 4 oz of water. It may not be everyone’s favorite, but it is great if you have digestive issues. The lemon helps break down the proteins in the stomach and the garlic helps balance out your gut bacteria. WARNING: If you have ulcers, this drink may irritate your stomach. After a sip or two, you’ll be able to tell if this drink will hurt your stomach or not. If it does, DO NOT attempt to drink it all.
