❄️Winter Prep!❄️

❄️Hello everyone!❄️ It is now January of 2023 and we are getting ready for planting season! Although we have already been cleaning out plant beds and doing general “winter garden cleanup,” today we began to get the soil ready in one of the greenhouses. Here, my mom planted kale last November (2022) and it has been growing in the greenhouse since! We are not using a heater in this greenhouse, but since kale is a cold-weather plant, the environment is good enough for it to grow. The other day, with the help of the tractor, I brought some manure close to the greenhouse. This manure was given to us by some kind neighbors! Today, we used buckets to take the manure into the greenhouse and then spread it over the beds with a rake, and only carefully placed manure around the kale by hand. We have been harvesting baby kale for a while now, which we use in our salads! Oh, and we’ve also got some volunteer cilantro growing here! A nice little surprise. Here are some photos of our work today!

Down here are some photos of some lettuce plants coming up (first 2 photos) and of some onions that are sprouted onions (3rd photo). How exciting!

That’s all we’ve got for now! Don’t forget to subscribe to our website if you’re interested in seeing more of the SunFlores Farm activity!! Thanks for reading!
